Charm-quark mass from weighted finite energy QCD sum rules
نویسندگان
چکیده
The running charm-quark mass in the MS scheme is determined from weighted finite energy QCD sum rules (FESR) involving the vector current correlator. Only the short distance expansion of this correlator is used, together with integration kernels (weights) involving positive powers of s, the squared energy. The optimal kernels are found to be a simple pinched kernel, and polynomials of the Legendre type. The former kernel reduces potential duality violations near the real axis in the complex s-plane, and the latter allows to extend the analysis to energy regions beyond the end point of the data. These kernels, together with the high energy expansion of the correlator, weigh the experimental and theoretical information differently from e.g. inverse moments FESR. Current, state of the art results for the vector correlator up to four-loop order in perturbative QCD are used in the FESR, together with the latest experimental data. The integration in the complex s-plane is performed using three different methods, fixed order perturbation theory (FOPT), contour improved perturbation theory (CIPT), and a fixed renormalization scale μ (FMUPT). The final result is m̄c(3GeV) = 1008 ± 26MeV, in a wide region of stability against changes in the integration radius s0 in the complex s-plane.

Charm quark mass from QCD sum rules for the charmonium system
In this work, the charm quark mass is obtained from a QCD sum rule analysis of the charmonium system. In our investigation we include results from nonrelativistic QCD at next-to-next-to-leading order. Using the pole mass scheme, we obtain a value of Mc = 1.70± 0.13 GeV for the charm pole mass. The introduction of a potential-subtracted mass leads to an improved scale dependence. The running MS-...
متن کاملQCD Duality and the Mass of the Charm Quark
The mass of the charm quark is analyzed in the context of QCD finite energy sum rules using recent BESII ee annihilation data and a large momentum expansion of the QCD correlator which incorporates terms to order α s(m 2 c/q ). Using various versions of duality, we obtain the consistent result mc(mc) = (1.37 ± 0.09)GeV . Our result is quite independent of the ones based on the inverse moment an...
متن کاملBottom-quark mass from finite energy QCD sum rules
Finite energy QCD sum rules involving both inverse and positive moment integration kernels are employed to determine the bottom quark mass. The result obtained in the MS scheme at a reference scale of 10GeV is mb(10GeV) = 3623(9)MeV. This value translates into a scale invariant mass mb(mb) = 4171(9)MeV. This result has the lowest total uncertainty of any method, and is less sensitive to a numbe...
متن کاملCharm and bottom quark masses from QCD moment sum rules
In this work the charm and bottom quark masses are determined from QCD moment sum rules for the charmonium and upsilon systems. In our analysis we include both the results from non-relativistic QCD and perturbation theory at next-next-to-leading order. For the pole masses we obtain Mc = 1.75± 0.15 GeV and Mb = 4.98± 0.125 GeV. Using the potential-subtracted mass in intermediate steps of the cal...
متن کاملQCD moment sum rules for Coulomb systems: the charm and bottom quark masses
In this work the charm and bottom quark masses are determined from QCD moment sum rules for the charmonium and upsilon systems. To illustrate the special character of these sum rules when applied to Coulomb systems we first set up and study the behaviour of the sum rules in quantum mechanics. In our analysis we include both the results from nonrelativistic QCD and perturbation theory at next-ne...
